The Giant panda is listed as endangered in The World Conservation Union (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species since 1996. With approximately around 2,000 individuals in the wild, the Chinese government has implemented stricter laws for poachers and greater protection of the forests where these Giant pandas reside.
China also sends Giant pandas to other countries as a symbol of strong diplomatic and economic ties. Malaysia is very lucky to be one of the countries to care and be able to display these adorable bears. Your support will assist us in providing a variety of enrichments to stimulate their senses within the natural setting and other maintenance needed around their open concept exhibit. This indirectly aids the Giant Panda Research Program that Zoo Negara Malaysia is committed to. Help us care for these precious wildlife and prolong their existence for the next generation to appreciate.
