Estuarine Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus)

The largest crocodilians on Earth, these saltwater crocodiles, or "salties," are excellent swimmers and have often been spotted far out at sea. They can grow up to 5 meters (17 feet) and weighs 450 kilograms (1,000 lbs.). Estuarine crocodiles’ hides are valued above all other crocodilians. Illegal hunting, habitat loss, and antipathy toward the species because of its reputation as a man-eater continue to put pressure on the population.

Zoo Negara Malaysia owns 4 of these gruesome reptile. In the wild, these crocodiles eat water buffalos, monkeys, wild boars, and even sharks. We only feed them chicken meat, but lots of it. Your support will assist us in providing a variety of enrichments to stimulate their senses within their natural setting and other maintenance needed around their open concept exhibit. Help us care for these precious wildlife and prolong their existence for the next generation to appreciate.
